McCartney Foundation 5K and 1 Mile Walk for the Deaf
The event takes place at Peace Valley Park in Doylestown, PA (264 Creek Rd.). It is organized in partnership with "Run The Day" to provide a professionally run race and walk experience. Runners participate in a timed 5K; walkers follow a 1 mile route along Lake Galena.
Runners receive a race t-shirt and an event medallion. A medal ceremony will recognize top finishers across multiple categories. On-site support includes a race announcer, DJ and music, a professional photographer, and a coffee truck offering beverages and morning treats.
All proceeds will fund new deaf job training and employment initiatives. The event notes that approximately 55% of deaf high school graduates and deaf young adults are unable to find employment after graduation. The organizing partners and local schools will focus on programs that teach soft skills and job training, and on building partnerships with local businesses to create internships and final job placement opportunities.
