Lake Macquarie | Max Adventure Race
The event is an adventure race held at Cams Wharf, NSW on February 13, 2027. Teams of two compete in trail running/hiking, mountain biking and kayaking while using basic navigation. Categories include male, female and mixed teams. Course options are Classic, Novice and Kids.
The Classic course moves from the shoreline of Lake Macquarie toward the Pacific Ocean. Mountain biking legs include a climb over a footbridge to access the eastern side of the course; those climbs are followed by downhill returns. Run legs reach rock platforms and tidal pools south of Caves Beach. Kayaking takes place on Lake Macquarie adjacent to the event area. The Classic course includes approximately 15-25 km of mountain biking, 7-12 km of trail running and 2-4 km of kayaking and typically takes around 4-6 hours to complete.
The Novice course covers shorter bike, run and kayak legs with fewer climbs and a reduced kayaking leg; Novice teams generally finish in about 2-4 hours.
The Kids course includes simpler navigation with marked arrows, about 1-2 km of running, 2-4 km of biking and 500 m of kayaking. Parent or guardian participation is encouraged to assist young competitors. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
