Matlock Triathlon : Arc Leisure Centre, Matlock
The Matlock Triathlon is a pool-based triathlon organised by Matlock Athletic Club at the Arc Leisure Centre, Matlock. The event comprises three sequential disciplines:
- 400 m pool swim
- 16.5 km undulating cycle on public roads
- 5 km run (two laps)
The swim takes place in lanes with grouped starts; competitors begin in the water and complete 16 lengths. Wave starts are used. Transition areas are outside the pool emergency doors; bike racking must follow marshals' instructions and space is limited. The cycle route is on open public roads and is marshalled; riders must obey traffic signals, avoid drafting and use helmets before mounting. The run follows a marked, marshalled two-lap route that uses roads, paths and playing fields near the leisure centre.
Facilities and logistics noted in the event information include on-site car parks with a height barrier, additional parking along Bakewell Road, separate changing rooms, lockers requiring a returnable coin and an early-opening café. Race numbers are marked on the lower leg; competitors with compression garments may have numbers placed above the knee.
Prizes are awarded in several age and novice categories. Event proceeds are divided between the organising clubs and two charities chosen by the winning man and winning woman. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
