About the race
The Maryland Indoor 5K is an indoor running event held at Arundel Mills Mall in Hanover, MD. The course runs entirely inside the mall before it opens to shoppers and uses repeated loops around the mall corridors.
Distances offered:
- 5.1K four laps around the mall
- ~1.1 miles one full lap plus one mini lap
- 5K Elite for runners able to maintain sub 7:30 minute mile pace
The 5K course is approximately 1/10th of a kilometer longer than an exact 5K. The elite bracket is intended for faster runners and for those who can finish the course in under 20 minutes. The event is hard capped. Strollers are only allowed during the Fun Run and must start at the back. Any child in the 5K should be able to maintain a jogging pace and keep to the right-hand side of the course.
This is a cupless event. Water fountains are available throughout the mall and there will be a single water station at the start and finish area; runners may carry closed-lid containers or bottles but running with open cups is not permitted. The course includes two tighter sections with a small ramp and a set of three stairs that runners may use as they prefer.
All finishers receive a medal. Packet pick-up occurs before the race and every participant must collect a racing timer that fits around the ankle. A portion of proceeds benefits Girls on the Run Greater Chesapeake Chapter. Parking near the Food Court Entrance is available in the Maryland Live Casino parking garage.
