Marsh Madness 10K at Howard Marsh Metropark
Marsh Madness is a 10 km running event held at Howard Marsh Metropark in Curtice, Ohio (401-621 S Howard Rd.). The course follows gravel trails along the marsh dikes and is described as flat, fast, and scenic. The marsh contains unique plants, many bird species, and other wildlife.
Participants can pair the run with paddling activities after the event. The marsh features about eight miles of aquatic trails for kayaking, canoeing, or paddle boarding. Rental kayaks are available from the Metroparks. Binoculars are suggested for bird viewing.
Awards for the 10K are given to Male and Female Overall, Masters, Grand Masters, and Senior Grand Masters. Awards consist of a marsh-themed sun catcher and a gift card from a local running store. All finishers receive a finisher medal and an additional giveaway. There are no age group awards.
To reduce litter, the race does not use paper cups. Runners may use a handheld bottle, a hydration vest, or a reusable collapsible cup; the course passes the water station twice at about 3.3 and 5.7 miles. Free collapsible cups are provided at packet pick-up by the event’s sustainable partner, HydraPak, which also offers a product discount code to registered participants.
Early packet pick-up occurs June 18 and June 19 at Second Sole in Levi’s Commons, Perrysburg. Race day packet pick-up is available at the event. Entry fee for the 10K is $25.00. Discounts apply for current Toledo Roadrunners members and for entrants who register for the full Trail Race Series. Proceeds support SewHope.
