Marsh Madness 10K
Marsh Madness 10K is a race held at Howard Marsh Metropark in Curtice, OH. The 10K course runs on gravel trails atop the marsh dikes and is described as flat, fast, and scenic. The marsh supports unique plants, many bird species, and other wildlife. After the event, participants may launch a kayak, canoe, or paddle board to explore eight miles of aquatic trails; rental kayaks are available from the Metroparks. Binoculars may be useful for bird watching.
Registration opens January 24 and closes June 20. The registration fee is $25.00. The deadline to order a shirt and ensure requested size is Thursday, June 4. Early packet pick-up is scheduled for Thursday, June 18 from 2:00 to 8:00 pm and Friday, June 19 from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm at Second Sole in Levi’s Commons, Perrysburg, OH. Race day packet pick-up will be available on site from 7:30 to 8:15 am. To reduce litter, the race will not use paper cups; runners may carry a handheld bottle, wear a hydration vest, or use a reusable collapsible cup. A water station will be passed twice at approximately 3.3 and 5.7 miles, and free collapsible cups will be provided at packet pick-up.
Awards for the 10K are given to Male and Female Overall, Masters, Grand Masters, and Senior Grand Masters and include a marsh-themed sun catcher and a gift card from Second Sole. All finishers receive a finisher medal and an additional giveaway; there are no age group awards. The event is the first race in the Toledo Roadrunners-Metroparks Toledo Trail Race Series. Current Toledo Roadrunners members receive a $5.00 discount on series race entries; signing up for all four races at once provides a $2.00 discount on each entry. Proceeds support SewHope, and registrants may donate to SewHope or Toledo Metroparks during registration. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
