Marsh Creek Sprint Triathlon
The Marsh Creek Sprint Triathlon is staged at Marsh Creek State Park in Downingtown, Pennsylvania, with the next edition scheduled for Sunday, September 20, 2026. The event is USA Triathlon sanctioned and offers multiple race categories including overall, masters, age group, aquabike, military, Clydesdale, Athena and relay teams.
Distances:
- Triathlon: 750 meter swim; 20K bike; 5K run
- Aquabike: 750 meter swim; 20K bike
Swim: The swim uses a single-loop, rectangular course in 500 acre Marsh Creek Lake. Two yellow triangle buoys mark the loop and orange round buoys for sighting are placed approximately every 75 to 100 meters. Water temperatures are typically in the low 70s and wetsuits are expected to be legal. Official water temperature readings are taken and posted by USAT staff on race morning.
Bike: The bike is a single well-paved 20K loop with all right-hand turns. The course combines rolling terrain, some technical sections and longer straightaways through forested areas and alongside trout streams. Athletes re-enter the park for transition to the run.
Run: The run is a one-loop 5K entirely within the park. The first mile passes the boat ramp area and the upper park near the swimming pool, then returns along the lake to the finish. Trails are maintained and aid stations are placed approximately every mile; the final half mile runs across grass to the finish line.
Logistics and extras: Packet pickup is available at the race site on the weekend; participants must present photo ID to collect race materials. Swim clinics are offered at the lake during the season. Race photos and galleries from prior years are made available after the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
