Maroubra Fun Run and Oktoberfest : Event Overview
The Maroubra Fun Run and Oktoberfest is a community day held at Arthur Byrne Reserve in South Maroubra. The event combines a timed running course with a market and Oktoberfest-style food and activities, and includes awards for individuals, teams and schools. Every participant receives a certificate.
The running course is an out-and-back loop that starts at the South Maroubra Surf Life Saving Club and returns to Arthur Byrne Reserve. Runners on the longer option complete two laps. The route passes along Malabar Road, uses a shared tree-lined path, and climbs a local rise known as Heartbreak Hill or Mount Manwaring. Competitors follow Bernie Kelly Drive on return legs and are directed to a designated turnaround and finish area on the reserve.
The event lists divisions for individuals, teams and school teams, and provides trophies and prizes. The Oktoberfest component features market stalls and food offerings; businesses may apply for stall sites. The event is supported by local sponsors and the Maroubra and Districts Chamber of Commerce.
