Event Overview
The EDP Maratona de Lisboa is a World Athletics Gold Label road race held in October. It is a founding member of the European Marathon Classics circuit, a group that includes marathons in cities such as Copenhagen, Frankfurt, London, Madrid, Rome, Vienna, and Warsaw. The event features a course that runs entirely alongside the sea and the river.
The following distances are available:
- 42 km (Marathon)
- 21 km (Hyundai Half Marathon)
- 8 km (EDP 8K)
- New Generation (Youth event)
The marathon has a time limit of 6 hours and a maximum capacity of 18,000 participants. The race starts in Carcavelos, specifically in front of the NOVA School of Business & Economics on the N6-7 road, and finishes at the Praça do Comércio.
Logistics and Participation
Participant kits, which include a technical t-shirt, a bag, and a bib with an integrated timing chip, are distributed at the Sport Expo located at the FIL (Feira Internacional de Lisboa) on the Thursday and Friday before the race. Finishers receive a medal.
Transportation to the start line is available via the CP train line. Participants can travel from Cais do Sodré or Cascais to the Carcavelos station, which is located approximately 1 km from the start area. Train travel is free for participants who present their race bib on the day of the event until 17:00. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
