Marathon's 5K Run for the Scholars
The Marathon's 5K Run for the Scholars is an athletic event held in the village of Marathon, New York. The race features a 5K course that starts and finishes on Main Street. The route is described as fast, containing some slight rolling hills, and holds a USATF Certification (NY-070444-JG). Participants can access the village via Interstate 81 from the north and south, or Route 221 from the east and west.
The event includes several participation benefits and amenities. Athletes who pre-register are guaranteed a performance multi-colored shirt, while those registering on the day of the event receive shirts on a first-come, first-served basis. Restroom facilities and race packet pickup are located at the local high school. Parking is available for participants at the high school and Lovell’s Field.
Recognition is provided across various categories following the race. Awards are presented to the first place overall male and female runners, as well as the top masters male and female finishers. Additionally, the top three finishers in each age group receive a race bag award. Age groups typically begin at 14 and under, followed by ten-year increments starting at age 15. If pre-race entries exceed 150 by a specific deadline, these increments may be adjusted to five-year intervals. A post-race celebration featuring food and an awards ceremony takes place after the conclusion of the run. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
