Maple Valley Turkey Trot 5K
The event is an annual community 5K run and walk at Lake Wilderness Park that benefits the Maple Valley Food Bank. The course is an out and back route near the beach house and it uses both paved and gravel surfaces, with a slight incline where the arboretum connects to the Green to Cedar River Trail. The event will not use chip timing.
Participants may request a free race t shirt from sponsors; t shirt requests must be submitted by November 1. Children in strollers do not need to register but they will not receive shirts. Tickets are not transferable or refundable. The registration fee is $30.00.
Organizers describe the 5K as family friendly. Jogging strollers are allowed on the course. Dogs are not permitted on the course except for service dogs. Bicycles are not permitted on the course. Water stations will be available near the beach house before and after the run. Volunteers will be stationed at steeper or rougher points on the course to assist as needed.
On race day packet pick up will be available; organizers plan coffee, snacks, a photo booth with a giant turkey and music. Parking is recommended in the lower lots near the arboretum or in designated park parking lots, as upper lots near the lodge may be closed for safety. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
