Manitoba Marathon - Winnipeg
The Manitoba Marathon is a multi-event race weekend with start and finish areas located at Princess Auto Stadium on the University of Manitoba campus in south Winnipeg. The event takes place on Father’s Day and involves nearly 15,000 runners, volunteers and spectators.
Offered event formats include:
- 42.2 km Full Marathon
- 21.1 km Half Marathon
- Marathon Relay
- 10 km race
- 5 km Super Run
- Mini & Mighty Mites youth races
Timing for individual events uses chip bibs; relay teams use a timing belt transferred at exchange stations. Race kits are distributed at a two day Fit Expo; race day package pickup is available only to participants who purchased that add-on. Clothing drop and information services are located inside Princess Auto Stadium, with clothing drop in the Pinnacle Room. Start corrals are seeded by projected pace and runners are timed when their chip bib crosses timing mats.
Race rules state that only registered participants wearing assigned bibs may be on course. Bicycles, roller skates and pets are prohibited; baby strollers are not allowed on the Full, Half and 10 km but may participate in the 5 km Super Run. Cutting the measured roadway course or deviating from the official route is a disqualifying offense. A course closing vehicle enforces the official pace; participants passed by this vehicle will be required to exit the course and will not receive an official time.
The event is an official Boston Marathon qualifier and partners with United Way Winnipeg for fundraising. Entry fees are non refundable and entries cannot be deferred. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
