Event Overview
The Manila Madness 5K Freedom Run/Ruck is an event honoring the legacy of Gunnery Sergeant John Basilone and the sacrifices of U.S. military heroes. It takes place on Canal Street in Raritan, New Jersey.

The event offers three participation options:
- Basilone 5K Freedom Run - A standard 5K run on a USATF-certified course.
- Basilone 5K Freedom Ruck - A weighted 5K ruck march, inspired by the equipment carried by Basilone.
- Basilone 5K Freedom Run (VIRTUAL) - A virtual option for the standard 5K run.
Event Details
The standard 5K run course is certified by USATF (USA Track & Field). The 5K ruck is a physically demanding challenge inspired by military load-bearing. Participants in the ruck can carry a load similar to Basilone's Browning M1917 machine gun, which weighed about 40 pounds with water, or a full combat load of approximately 100 pounds including the gun, tripod, and ammunition.
