About the race
The Manchester Airport Duathlon is a Sprint and Super Sprint event held in Wilmslow, Greater Manchester, close to Manchester Airport and with easy access from the M56 and M60. The event base is at the Britannia Airport Inn, Altrincham Road, Wilmslow SK9 4LR, and provides a compact start, finish and transition area.
The course is a run, bike, run format. The run routes include an out-and-back that passes through the Manchester Airport runway tunnels on tarmac, and the bike routes use roads around Ashley and Wilmslow, then into the Cheshire countryside on mostly undulating road surfaces with some short climbs and technical sections. The setting moves quickly from busy airport surroundings to quieter, leafy lanes.
Expected competitor numbers are around 100 and the event status shows a permit in progress. Facilities listed for the event include accessible parking, parking, accessible toilets, numbered racking, toilets and results published on the event website. Organisers state that participants do not need previous multisport experience or specialist equipment and that race staff will provide basic setup guidance on race day.
