MammothMarch Kentucky
MammothMarch Kentucky is a long-distance hiking event on May 8, 2027, held at Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area with start and finish at Nickell Branch Recreation Area in Grand Rivers, Kentucky.
The event is a single loop covering 20 miles along remote trails on the north end of Land Between the Lakes. The route uses mainly unpaved hiking trails, dirt tracks, gravel roads and forest floor and has about 1,600 ft of total elevation gain. The final route map will be published around two weeks before the event.
There is no formal timekeeping. Participants who complete the full distance receive a finisher medal and a personalized certificate. Participants who stop early are given a certificate stating the mileage covered. Aid and refreshment stations are positioned approximately every 5 to 7 miles and provide toilets, water, energy drinks, electrolytes, fruits, cereal or protein bars, and PBJ sandwiches. Complimentary parking is available on site.
Land Between the Lakes spans about 170,000 acres with roughly 300 miles of natural shoreline and 500 miles of trails; these features describe the wider area in which the hike takes place. New participants will have the option to obtain a MammothMarch Hiking Pass on site, and returning participants can present previous passes to receive 2027 stamps. Event merchandise ordered through the event store will be ready for pickup on race day, while items from the official online shop are shipped.
