About the race
MammothMarch Kentucky is a single-day hiking event set for May 8, 2027, at the Nickell Branch Recreation Area near Grand Rivers, Kentucky. The event uses a single-circuit loop on the north end of Land Between The Lakes, crossing mainly unpaved hiking trails, dirt trails, gravel roads and forest floor.
The main distance is 20 miles, with participants expected to complete the route within an eight hour window. The route has about 1,600 ft of total elevation gain. The final route map will be released around two weeks before the event.
There are aid and refreshment stations approximately every 5 to 7 miles providing toilets, water, energy drinks, electrolytes, fruit, cereal and protein bars, PBJ sandwiches and other items. Refreshments at these stations are included in the ticket. Complimentary parking is available on site. Lodging and accommodation details will follow.
All finishers receive a personalized certificate and a finisher medal and are listed on the event wall of fame. Participants who stop before the finish receive a certificate stating the mileage covered. MammothMarch Hiking Passes will be available for new participants, and returning participants are asked to bring their passes to collect 2027 stamps.
The event takes place within Land Between The Lakes, a 170,000 acre area with roughly 300 miles of natural shoreline and 500 miles of trails offering opportunities for swimming, fishing, boating, biking and bird watching. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
