Malverne 5K Run for Education
The Malverne 5K Run for Education is organized by the Malverne Educational and Fitness Foundation, a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization that supports youth programs within the Malverne school district. Net proceeds from the 5K go to the foundation.
The event offers the following distances:
- 5K run
- 200 m fun run for children aged 10 and under
The 5K course begins at Wicks Lane next to the H.T. Herber Middle School gym (75 Ocean Ave) and winds through Malverne, Lynbrook, and Lakeview. The finish is located behind Malverne High School. Parking is available at the two high school parking lots and on adjacent streets; Wicks Lane and the course route are restricted.
Packet pickup and day of run registration take place at Malverne High School. Registration windows and fees are:
- 5K registration opens 2026-02-04 and closes 2026-08-03, fee $25.00.
- Fun run registration opens 2026-02-04 and closes 2026-10-17, fee $10.00.
Awards are given as follows: fun run participants receive a finisher medal; 5K awards include top three males and females overall, top three in age groups including 11 and under, 12-14, 15-19, then every five years up to age 84, and categories for physically challenged and wheelchair participants.
