Mallard Challenge
The Mallard Challenge is a six hour lap event at Kingsbury Water Park, B76 0DY. The route circles several pools and a river and is described as a relatively flat venue. The course includes areas of grass, gravel tracks and a few short sections of asphalt. Wildfowl are commonly seen along the route. Ground conditions depend on recent weather and the park can flood after heavy rain.
Participants complete laps of a measured circuit. The lap length is 3.3-mile, so entrants choose how many laps to do within the six hour time limit. Examples given by the organiser include completing a half marathon in four laps and a marathon in eight laps.
- 3.3-mile lap
- Half marathon = 4 laps
- Marathon = 8 laps
Facilities at Kingsbury Water Park include a cafe and a toilet block next to the event headquarters. Parking on site is charged at £4.95. The venue is served by nearby motorway junctions and the nearest mainline station, Coleshill Parkway, is about five miles away.
Entry fees are tiered: before 16/03/2026 the price is £37, after that date it is £42; unaffiliated entrants pay £2 extra. The organiser offers a route gpx on Plotaroute. Dogs are not permitted; rucking is allowed. There is an option for a traditional medal or a Big Bear Tree Token supplied with wildflower seeds and a tree planted per token. The event has a partnership with Roald Dahl's Marvellous Children's Charity for optional fundraising. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
