Event overview

The Mallard Challenge is a six-hour loop event at Kingsbury Water Park, B76 0DY, near Sutton Coldfield. The course is a single lap of 3.3 miles that follows paths around multiple ponds and a river. Participants may complete as many laps as they wish within the six-hour limit. A half marathon requires four laps and a marathon requires eight laps. Rucking is allowed. Dogs are not permitted for this event. The event has a partnership with Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity; participants can opt to fundraise or make a donation, and 100% of those donations go to the charity.

Course, facilities and entry

The route is relatively flat with mixed underfoot surfaces: grass, gravel tracks and short sections of asphalt. Kingsbury Water Park floods easily, so ground conditions may be sodden after heavy rain. A GPX of the route is available on Plotaroute. On-site facilities include a cafe and a toilet block next to the event headquarters. Parking on site costs £4.95. The park is managed by Warwickshire County Council and is located about five minutes from Junction 9 on the M42 and ten minutes from Junction 7A on the M6; the nearest train station, Coleshill Parkway, is approximately five miles away. Entry uses tiered pricing: before 16/03/2026 the fee is £37, after that £42, and unaffiliated entrants pay an extra £2. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
