Loxford Maitland Running Festival : 7 June 2026
The Loxford Maitland Running Festival takes place on Sunday 7 June 2026 at the Maitland Regional Athletics Centre. The venue is the start, finish and lap point for all races and provides amenities and on site parking.
Distances offered:
- Half Marathon (Mutual Bank) : new two lap course; minimum age 16
- 12 km (Quarry Mining)
- 8 km (The Athletes Foot)
- 4 km (The Loxford)
The 4 km, 8 km and 12 km use a 4 km loop that starts on the track, proceeds roughly 300 metres anti clockwise to a western gate, passes the league and soccer fields, crosses James and Hunter Streets, follows the riverbank under Belmore Bridge to Sempill Street, and returns to finish with about 100 metres on the track. Runners complete one, two or three laps for the 4 km, 8 km and 12 km respectively.
The half marathon uses a new two lap design combining the original 4 km loop and a new 6.55 km section to create a 10.55 km lap for each circuit. The half marathon route runs from the track out through the car park toward Harold Gregson Park, along the High Street path and over the overhead bridge onto Maitland Park before reentering the athletics field.
Timing chips are integrated into race bibs and timing is managed by Multisport Australia with live online results. A secure self collect bag drop will operate at the start finish area. Drink stations are located about 2 km into the course and at the finish, with an additional station on the half marathon in Maitland Park. Qualified medical personnel are on site at the start, on course and at the finish. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Strollers must start at the rear. A dedicated wheelchair category is not offered because of mixed and uneven surfaces.
Age categories are set by race day and cover children and adult bands. All finishers receive a commemorative finisher medal; separate category medals are not awarded.
The event has a staged refund policy. More than six weeks before the event a 70 percent refund is available. Between six weeks and 14 days before the event a 40 percent refund is available. Less than 14 days before the event refunds are not available. Entries may be transferred to another person using the event transfer process.
