Event
The Mad Trapper Backyard Ultra is a last-person-standing trail running event held at The Ark in Denholm, Quebec on Saturday, June 20th, 2026. Entrants may compete as Individuals on the full course, on a shorter "Kristi Loop", or as a 2-person team. Distances:
- Full loop - official BYU distance is 6.71 km (organizer expects 5.5–6.0 km here)
- Kristi Loop - about 500 m shorter than the full loop
- Team - teams run the Kristi Loop
Format and rules
Racers return to the corral every hour and must be present when an audio signal calls "Goooooo!" to continue. The Individual winner is the last person to complete a full loop solo. Teams are in two categories, Friends and Couples; a team continues until both members are out. A racer is out when unable to complete a loop within an hour. Yard counts determine final placement. There is a 16-hour cut-off for the team event, or teams may continue as long as Individuals last. Prizes are awarded for Full Loop and Kristi Loop winners and for team categories.
Location and facilities
The event base is The Ark, 285 ch. de Farrellton, Denholm, QC J0X 2C0. Free onsite camping is available with a firepit, large picnic table, four houses, and flat tenting areas; a cabin may be available to rent. At the Ark there will be fresh water, an electrolyte drink, some fruit and snacks on course, and post-race food options. Crews are allowed in the transition area; no course support is permitted.
