Snowshoe Backyard Ultra
The event is a snowshoe backyard ultra held at The Ark in Denholm, Quebec, Canada. Racers complete a packed snowshoe trail loop of 5.5 km every hour, on the hour, repeating the loop until only one competitor remains. A shorter option called the Kristi Loop is offered as an alternative to the full 5.5 km circuit.
The course includes a flat 1 km stretch across a frozen lake and is run on packed winter trails. The venue is an off-grid cabin location described as The Ark. Historically the event has produced multiple loops and can total around ~50 km for those who continue for many circuits.
Entry includes a meal, aid stations, free parking, live entertainment, and a race bib. A post-race buffet with Mad Trapper brownies is provided for finishers. The organizer notes a long running history of snowshoe events, reporting more than 75 snowshoe races held without any cancellations.
