The Macklind Mile

The Macklind Mile is a point-to-point running event held in the South City neighborhood of Saint Louis, Missouri. The course covers a distance of 1 mile and features a downhill profile. The 2026 edition serves as the host for the RRCA 1 Mile National Championships.

The event offers several specialized waves for participants including:

  • 1 mile competitive races for men and women.
  • 1 mile elite race for qualified runners with a $3700 prize purse.
  • 1 mile recreational wave for casual participants and strollers.
  • 1 mile dog mile specifically for participants running with pets.
  • 0.25 mile dash for children.
  • 1 mile virtual option for those unable to attend in person.

Timing for the mile distances is provided by Chronotrack chip technology, allowing runners to track their performance against their age group and gender. The children's dash is an untimed event starting near the intersection of Winona and Macklind, where finishers receive a ribbon.

The event includes a post-race gathering in the streets featuring music, food, and various activities. Participants can choose to compete for personal records or complete the distance at a walking pace. Elite qualification requires men to have run a 4:30 mile or faster and women to have run a 5:30 mile or faster within the last year. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
