Independence Day Celebration in Lutz
The Lutz Independence Day 5k and 1-Mile Fun Run is an annual community event held in Lutz, Florida. Taking place on July 4th at the Lutz Civic Center, the races precede the local Independence Day Parade. The event features two primary distances:
- 5k
- 1-Mile Family Fun Run
The 5k race is chip-timed. Participants of either distance receive a finisher medal. Trophies are awarded in the 5k category for the first overall male and female, first masters male and female, and the top three finishers in five-year age groups ranging from 0-9 to 70+.
Registration is conducted exclusively online, as no cash or race-day registration is accepted. Participants who register by June 15, 2026, are guaranteed their preferred shirt size. A portion of the proceeds from the event is distributed to local organizations such as the Lutz School House, Lutz Nature Park, and local cross-country teams.
Packet pickup is available the day before the race at the Lutz Train Depot or on the morning of the event. Runners are instructed to park South of Lutz Lake Fern Road or East of US 41. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
