Lunenburg 5km Road Race and Muffin Run, June 7, 2026
This 5 km road race and Muffin Run takes place in Lunenburg, a World Heritage Site. The event is part of the Run Nova Scotia Road Race Series and is a fundraiser for the West Nova Fuels Soccer Club and the Canadian Dory Racing Association. It supports youth participation in local programs and promotes the Lunenburg Dory Program.
The route begins at the community centre, winds through town along the boardwalk, passes the Bluenose and working fishing vessels, and follows the outer edge of town with views of the Lunenburg Academy before returning to town for the finish.
An awards presentation and reception are held at the Lunenburg Community Center after the final runner finishes. Volunteers provide hundreds of homemade muffins for the reception. Local merchants donate draw prizes and larger raffle items.
Race t-shirts are offered to participants who register before May 15; shirts are not mailed to no-shows and sizes are distributed on a first come first served basis on race day. Places are limited and there are separate registration categories for Lunenburg County residents and Run NS members. Non service dogs are not permitted and participants using strollers should line up at the back. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
