Lunartic 5K Run/Walk, Smithville MO
The Lunartic 5K is a nighttime, chip timed run and walk held near the full moon along the shoreline trails of Smithville Lake. The course is point to point, beginning at the Smoke and Davey trailhead and finishing at Sailboat Cove. Parking is available at the finish and participants are transported to the start by school bus.
The event offers both individual entries and a team option for five runners. Registration is available in advance; the preregistered fee is $30 and the fee increases to $40 at late registration or packet pickup. T shirts are guaranteed only for registrations completed before early July. A $7 park entry hang tag per vehicle is included in race registration and can be collected at packet pickup or on race day.
Packet pickup is scheduled at Smithville High School on July 30 and at Sailboat Cove on July 31. The organizers note that the route goes under tree canopy and recommend bringing a headlamp or flashlight. Proceeds benefit the Smithville High School cross country team. There are no refunds for weather or for a forced cancellation by the county or state of Missouri. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
