Lunartic 5K Run/Walk
The Lunartic 5K is a nighttime chip timed event held near the eve of a full moon along the shoreline of the Smithville Lake trails. The route is point to point, beginning at the Smoke and Davey trailhead and finishing at Sailboat Cove. Participants should expect low light under the tree canopy and are advised to bring a headlamp or flashlight.
Registration and entry fees are set in advance. The registration fee is thirty dollars for pre registration and increases to forty dollars at packet pickup or late registration. T shirts are guaranteed only for those registered by July 20. Registration opens January 9, 2026 and closes July 31, 2026. There are no refunds for weather related cancellations or for a forced cancellation by county or state authorities.
Packet pickup locations are Smithville High School the day before and at Sailboat Cove on race day. Parking is available in the grass lot at Sailboat Cove and shuttle buses transport participants to the start; the final shuttle departs shortly before the race. A park entry hang tag is included with registration for entry to Smithville Lake on the event date.
The event includes a team option for teams of five. Proceeds benefit the Smithville High School cross country team. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
