The swim is a freshwater rectangular course that parallels the shore for the first 250 m. The Olympic bike is a large loop around the park; the course is described as flat with right-hand turns and good pavement. The run includes forested single-track sections with lake views and wide, graveled walking paths. Sprint format uses one loop per discipline; Olympic format uses multiple loops (swim 2, bike 3, run 2).
Competition and race services
The sprint and Olympic races serve as the USA Triathlon Delaware State Championships and offer qualification spots for the Toyota Age Group National Championships. State championship qualification awards the top 35% or the top five finishers in each age group, whichever is greater. Registration includes a finisher medal, event long-sleeved tech shirt, custom socks, reusable packet bag, timed results, age-group awards, a post-race meal, finisher certificate, and free finish-line photos.
