13th Annual Luc's Run

Luc's Run is an annual community event held in the historic logging town of Tuolumne, California. Professional chip timing is used for the in-person races, which include multiple distances for runners and walkers. All proceeds from the event support the Major Lucas Gruenther Legacy Foundation to provide educational scholarships.

The available in-person distances include:

  • 10K
  • 2 Miles
  • 1K (Kids Run for ages 10 and under)

The 10K course begins and ends at the Tuolumne Veteran's Memorial Hall. The route travels through town streets before transitioning to an out-and-back section on Apple Colony Road, featuring countryside views. The return path includes a segment on hard-packed dirt roads on the Westside property. This rolling course includes three aid stations and several short, moderately steep hills.

The 2 Miles race shares the first 1.6 miles with the 10K course before branching off to finish at the Memorial Hall. This all-road route includes one aid station and has less elevation change than the longer distance. For younger participants, the 1K Kids Run circles West Side Memorial Park on a 1/4-mile course monitored by safety volunteers.

Participants receive a race shirt and an official finisher's medal. Overall and age-group awards are presented following the races. Virtual participation options are also available for the half marathon, 10K, 2 miles, and kids' distances. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
