Lost Sierra Endurance Race : Downieville, California
The Lost Sierra Endurance Race on July 25, 2026 is a trail running event in and around Downieville, California offering three distances over mountain singletrack and remote high-country trails. Courses pass river canyons, alpine ridgelines, mountain lakes, and granite sections.
Distances
- 100K: out-and-back via Third Divide, Pacific Crest Trail, and Lakes Basin Trails.
- 50K: point-to-point from Plumas-Eureka State Park into Downieville.
- 25K: looped course through the First, Second, and Third Divide Trails.
Aid and support include multiple staffed aid stations with water, hydration mix, light food, and ice (limited at some remote stations). Aid stations 1, 2, and 5 provide warm food. The 100K course lists five unique aid stations and nine total stops; the 50K and 25K use subsets of these stations.
Race rules and logistics note that 100K runners must carry safety gear, and pacers are allowed on the 100K return at specified aid stations with no event shuttle for pacers. Drop bag access is provided at designated aid stations for the 50K and 100K. Cutoff limits are set by distance: 25K 6 hours, 50K 10 hours, 100K 20 hours.
Terrain is mostly singletrack with a mix of rocky and smooth trails; overall surface distribution is reported as about 70% alpine singletrack, 20% mountain bike singletrack, and 10% dirt, gravel, or paved sections. Downieville is a small, remote town with limited lodging and camping options; the start area may be used for tent camping but it is not a campground.
