The Longwood Monster Dash 5K
The Longwood Monster Dash is an annual charity event held in the historic district of Longwood, Florida. The event serves as a fundraiser for the Longwood Historic Society, a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation and restoration of local 19th-century landmarks, including the Bradlee-McIntyre House, the Historic Civic Center, and the Inside-Outside House.
The event features two distances:
- 5K Run/Walk
- Kid's Dash
The course begins and ends at the Historic Civic Center in downtown Longwood. The route takes participants through the historic district, Reiter Park, and surrounding neighborhoods. Participants in the 5K receive chip-timing with live results, a custom-printed bib, and a tech shirt made of wicking material. Refreshments include a pre-race fueling station with snacks and fruit, water stations at the halfway point and finish line, and post-race sweet treats.
The event features a Halloween theme with a live DJ playing holiday-themed music. All finishers receive a unique wood medal. Prizes are awarded to the top three male and female overall finishers, the top corporate team, and participants in the costume contest across multiple categories.
