Longwood Monster Dash
The Longwood Monster Dash is a Halloween-themed charity running event held in the historic district of Longwood, Florida. The event begins and ends at the Historic Civic Center in downtown Longwood and features music and costume prizes. It is presented to raise funds for the Longwood Historic Society, a non-profit organization that maintains three district buildings constructed in the 1870s and 1880s. One stated fundraising goal is to replace the upper roof of the Bradlee-McIntyre House. Contributions from the event are tax-deductible and 100% of the race proceeds go to the Society for preservation and restoration.
The event program includes the following distances:
- 5K Run/Walk
- 200 m Kid's Dash not timed; all kids receive ribbons; short out-and-back sprint scheduled immediately before the 5K.
The 5K has a listed registration fee of $20 and the Kid's Dash is free. The event is described as family-friendly and Halloween-themed, with music that includes family-appropriate and holiday selections.
