Event Overview
The Long Night in Lanford is an overnight trail event held in Enoree, South Carolina. The competition follows a format where participants aim to complete the maximum number of laps on a 1 mile off-road course between sunset and sunrise. To qualify as a finisher, an individual must complete the initial lap at the start of the event and the final lap at dawn. There are no speed requirements or cut-off times during the night.
Course Information
The course follows a loop that starts on gravel at a barn and moves into a wooded area. The path goes through an open field near Beaverdam Creek and continues through pine trees and hay pastures. The terrain is off-road and includes uneven sections. Participants must provide their own light sources, such as headlamps or flashlights, to navigate the loop. A horn signal at midnight marks a change in the running direction of the course.
Facilities and Registration
Facilities at the event include space for tents and crew setups, which are accessible on Saturday afternoon. An aid station remains stocked with water, snacks, and hot food throughout the night. Following the conclusion of the event, a hot breakfast is provided. Top finishers receive awards based on their total lap count. T-shirts are provided to those who register by October 15. Professional race photography is included for all participants. The event does not permit pets or strollers on the trail. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
