London Calling

London Calling is a Not the London Marathon event organised by Long Player Running on the North Dorset Trailway near Shillingstone. The route is an out and back along the trailway with mixed terrain and views of Hambledon Hill and the River Stour, passing the site of Shillingstone Station.

Participants may choose their own distance, with options ranging from 5K up to ultra-marathon. Laps are 5.3 km (3.28 miles) each. All finishers of one lap or more receive a London themed metal medal. Distance restrictions apply to participants aged 20 or under in line with UK Athletics rules.

The event starts and finishes in the grounds of the Big Yellow Garden Bus Project community gardens. There is space to set up chairs, rugs and kit. Race numbers are collected on the day at registration before participants start. Toilets are available at the start and finish area.

A staffed aid station at the start/finish of each lap provides drinks and a range of sweet and savoury snacks, including roast potatoes and cheese. The event is cupless; participants should bring their own drinking vessel. Parking is available for a fee of £6 per car and proof of payment should be brought on the day.

The event partners with the Big Yellow Bus Garden Project and accepts donations to support the charity. Final instructions are sent to participants by email before the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
