Logan Peak Trail Run
The Logan Peak Trail Run is a mountain trail marathon held in Logan, Utah, with a start and finish at Hyrum Gibbons Mt. Logan Park. The full marathon follows Logan Dry Canyon singletrack, South Syncline and North Syncline trails, and includes an out-and-back to the summit of Logan Peak. The course passes through aspen groves, mature pine forest, old-growth forest sections, meadows of mule ears and alpine views over Cache Valley.
The route is rugged and varied, featuring rocky trail, steep climbs and descents, a rough dirt road section to the peak, short paved approaches, and occasional snow fields. The course description notes more than 6,000 feet of climbing with a similar amount of descent. The route is marked and supported by four aid stations spaced along the marathon; aid stations 1 and 4 require pack-in/pack-out logistics and therefore carry fewer items than aid stations 2 and 3.
Aid station supplies include GU Roctane energy and hydration mixes, gels, chews, waffles, fruit, sandwiches, trail mix, granola bars, chips and some soft drinks. Runners may alternate running and hiking on steep sections; the faster finishers typically complete the marathon in about four hours, and the official finish cutoff is nine hours. The organizer notes the course may be altered for safety because of snow or fire.
