L+M Hospital Summer Stride 5K & 10K
The L+M Hospital Summer Stride features road races on a mainly flat, scenic course along the shoreline. The event offers both a 5K and a 10K. The 10K is run as a double loop with long straightaways and ocean views along Pequot Avenue. The 5K is a relatively flat 3.1 mile course that welcomes runners, walkers and families with strollers.
Finishers receive a Summer Stride technical short sleeve shirt and a cold post-race treat. The event is part of a multi-race Spring Shoreline Challenge that spans three race courses in the spring and presents a special commemorative medal in New London at the Summer Stride.
Family options include the HMF FitKids run with 1/4 mile and 1/2 mile distances for children ages 2 to 11. The event supports community giving through HMF CAN, which collects nonperishable food at the Packet Pickup area to support CT State Community College Three Rivers students via a school food pantry program with support from Stop & Shop. The charity beneficiary for the race is HMF’s youth running program.
