Event overview
Live Oak Ultra in Biloxi, Mississippi offers two distances:
- 50K
- Half-Marathon
The event starts and finishes at Altered Reality Brewing, 969 Howard Ave, Biloxi. The 50K route runs through Biloxi and Ocean Springs, passing the Biloxi Lighthouse, the beach boardwalk, the Biloxi-Ocean Springs bridge, Front and East Beaches, and parts of Gulf Islands National Seashore State Park before returning to downtown Biloxi. The Half-Marathon follows the same route to Biloxi Beach and Ocean Springs with a short loop back to Biloxi.
Course, aid and logistics
The course is an urban route with relatively few turns; chalk markings will indicate turns and pocket-sized turn cards will be provided at check in. A GPX file and route photos will be posted when finalized. There are approximately six aid locations offering water, Hammer Nutrition products (Heed and gels), fruit and snacks, plus occasional extra food options and public restrooms. Specific aid station points listed include miles 7.1 / 25.6 (Ft Maurepas, Front Beach Dr), mile 11.1 (Tri Hard Sports - Porter Ave), and miles 16.0 / 21.5 (Park Pavilion). Drop bags are allowed at stations 1/5 and 3/4 but not at station 2; labeled small bags are requested and will be collected prior to the start. Runners have a 10-hour course time limit. Awards are given to all finishers; additional top-place and age-division awards apply for the 50K. The event supports the Ainsley Angels organization.
