Little Blackfoot 15K and 30K
Little Blackfoot 15K and 30K are out-and-back trail races held at Little Blackfoot Meadows Trailhead on July 17, 2027. The courses run on trails near Kading Campground at the end of Little Blackfoot River Road and include forested sections, short climbs, and two creek crossings on wooden bridges.
Distances:
- 15 km out-and-back to Blackfoot Meadows.
- 30 km follows the 15 km route, continues across the road, and ascends Kading Grade to a Continental Divide viewpoint before returning.
The route description notes a short road segment to the trailhead, followed by singletrack through lush forest to the turnaround points. The last several miles of the access road are dirt but are usually passable without four-wheel drive. Directions from Helena call for travel west on Highway 12 over MacDonald Pass and then onto Little Blackfoot River Road; signs for YMCA Camp Child and Kading Campground mark the turn.
Event services at the finish include bagels, fruit, beverages (non-alcoholic and microbrews), overall and age-group prizes, and raffle items donated by Helena businesses. Registration details specify early bird pricing through April 30, regular pricing from May 1, and that registration by June 10 guarantees a race technical shirt; race-day registration is available for cash at the check-in table.
