Event Overview
The Lions on the Leon Captain "D" Dash for Sight is a community running and walking event held at Heritage Park in Belton, Texas. Hosted by the Belton Lions Club, the event features a single distance with options for general and student registration.
- 5K Fun Run/Walk
The course starts at the Lions Pavilion and proceeds down Park Avenue. It follows a path that loops through the trails around the local baseball fields and runs alongside the Leon River before returning to the finish line at the pavilion. Participants will find four water stations positioned along the route, and snacks are provided upon completion of the course.
Participant Information
This is a chip-timed event. Awards are presented to the top overall male and female finishers, as well as the top three finishers in several age categories ranging from 11 and under to 70 and older. The event also includes a costume contest with "People's Choice" awards for those who choose to wear pirate-themed attire.
Registered participants receive a "Pirate's Booty" swag bag, a bib raffle entry, event sunglasses, and a custom spinner race medal. Event t-shirts are provided to those who complete full registration by the specified September deadline. Strollers are permitted on the course. To ensure safety, local roadblocks are established shortly before the start and remain in place until all participants have returned to the finish area.
