Lions on the Leon Captain "D" Dash for "Sight" 5K Fun Run/Walk
This community 5K run/walk takes place on October 3, 2026, at Heritage Park in Belton, Texas, and is organized by the Belton Lions Club. The course uses the Lions Pavilion area, proceeds along Park Avenue, follows the trail around the baseball fields and runs along the Leon River before returning to the Lions Pavilion. Four water stations are located on course and race snacks are provided on return.
The event is a timed 5K with results managed by Pro-Fit Race Timing. Awards are presented to the top overall male and female finishers and to the top three male and female finishers in each age group; duplicate awards are not given. Age divisions include 11 and under, 12–15, 16–19 and 10-year adult groupings up to 70 and over. There are also four costume awards decided by people’s choice.
Registration fees vary by category; a reduced fee is available for youth (registrants 17 and under). Full registrants who register by September 17 are guaranteed an event T-shirt while supplies last. Every registered 5K participant receives a swag bag, a bib raffle entry, and a custom spinner race medal and/or event sunglasses while supplies last. An eyeglass collection will accept used eyewear for recycling. The event proceeds rain or shine; no refunds are offered. Early packet pick-up is available at a local pickup location in Belton.
