Li'l Rhody Runaround Trail Run

The event is scheduled for Sunday, November 15, 2026 and serves as the third race in the WTAC Fall Race Series. It takes place at Burlingame State Park picnic area, 23 Sanctuary Road, Charlestown, Rhode Island, with parking in the DEM picnic area lot and registration inside the cabin.

Distances:

  • 4 Mile course through Sanctuary Road, Kimball Preserve and Burlingame campground
  • 8 Mile single-track loop around Watchaug Pond via Sanctuary Road

The terrain is primarily dirt trails with some dirt and asphalt roads. Runners begin with nearly one mile on Sanctuary Road to reduce trail congestion before the courses branch. The 8 Mile course follows single-track trails counterclockwise around Watchaug Pond and returns to the picnic area parking lot. The 4 Mile course makes a loop through DEM-owned Kimball Preserve and the campground before returning to the same start and finish.

Participants and volunteers must wear at least 200 square inches of orange per State of Rhode Island DEM mandate. The 8 Mile course has a two hour cutoff (approximately 15 minutes per mile); support and official finish times are not guaranteed beyond that.

Entry fee structure:

  • Pre-registration through October 25: $30 adults, $25 age 18 and under
  • Post-registration October 26 to November 14: $37 adults, $32 age 18 and under
  • Race day prices: $42 adults, $37 age 18 and under

Discounts include 10 percent for signing up for two or more WTAC Fall Trail Races and 15 percent for all three when registered in the same transaction. WTAC members and Mohegan Striders receive small registration discounts.

Awards are given separately for the 8 Mile and 4 Mile courses to top male and female overall plus one place in each listed age group. Hot soup, food, and cider are provided after the event. Strollers and dogs are prohibited on course; walkers are welcome but are asked to select the shorter course out of consideration for volunteers.
