The Lighthouse Marathon and Ultra
The event comprises a marathon and an ultra-distance race along the Cornish coast, based at Sunset Surf Cafe, Gwithian (TR27 5ED). Routes follow coastal footpaths and include sections of rock, sand and tarmac.
Distances
- Marathon: Pendeen to Godrevy lighthouse, 26 miles along the coastpath.
- Ultra: from Longships Lighthouse via Pendeen, 10 miles then 25 miles to the finish.
Terrain and profile include mud, water, dunes, rocks and large climbs. The marathon route has over 4,000 feet of ascent; the Ultra includes an additional 1,800 feet. Weather can be variable and rain is likely. The organiser provides a generous cut off time, which can mean finishing after dark close to the lighthouse lighting.

Refunds are available up to four weeks before the event. Deferrals are allowed up to two weeks before the event but deferrals cannot be refunded at the subsequent race. Crew are allowed on course; support runners are not permitted.
Safety and permissions: the event holds an ARC permit (ARC/27/) and organisers note that events cannot proceed under Met Office Amber or Red weather warnings; in that case the event may be rescheduled or held virtually. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
