Event overview

The Lighthouse Marathon & Ultra is a point-to-point trail race on the Cornish Coast Path. The event includes a marathon distance and an ultra distance that visits multiple coastal lighthouses. The 2026 edition is listed as closed and entries normally close two weeks before the race.

Race details

  • 26.2 miles (marathon)
  • 35 miles (ultra)

The marathon route starts at Pendeen and finishes at Godrevy, covering varied terrain including rocks, sand, tarmac, mud and water. The marathon has nearly 4 000 feet of elevation gain and a generous time cut off that may result in finishing after dark. The ultra covers 35 miles with over 6 000 feet of elevation gain and passes three lighthouses: Longships, Pendeen and Godrevy. The ultra field is limited to 70 runners.

Logistics

Race registration is based at The Sunset Surf Cafe in Gwithian. Buses transport runners from the registration area to the start locations and organisers state that all runners are provided a seat. The event provides free parking for runners at the car park, a bag drop there, and food available after the run. A kit list and route information are provided by the organisers.
