The Lighthouse Marathon and Ultra
The Lighthouse Marathon and Ultra is a coastal running event in Cornwall scheduled for 6 November 2027 with base location at Sunset Surf Cafe, Gwithian TR27 5ED. The event is organised by Bys Vyken Events and holds ARC permit number ARC/27/.
The course uses coastal paths and includes mixed underfoot conditions: rocks, sand, tarmac, mud and water. The route features substantial climbs and dunes. Elevation gain exceeds 4,000 feet, with the Ultra containing an additional 1,800 feet of ascent. Weather in the area can include rain and low light levels.
Distances offered:
- Marathon: from Pendeen past the lighthouse to Godrevy lighthouse, 26 miles.
- Ultra: starts at Longships Lighthouse, includes the 10 miles to Pendeen, then 25 miles to the finish.
Organiser information and entry conditions include a refund policy up to four weeks before the event and deferral up to two weeks before the event; deferrals cannot be refunded at the subsequent race. Crew are allowed on the course but support runners are not permitted. The organiser notes that if an Amber or Red weather warning is issued by the Met Office the race cannot go ahead; it may be rescheduled or held virtually if rescheduling is not possible.
