Light Up the Night 5K
The Light Up the Night 5K is a community athletic event held at Rock Creek Park in Dawsonville, Georgia. This gathering serves as a support initiative for Captain Shane Henson of the Dawson County Sheriff’s Office and his family following a serious automobile accident. The event is organized by the Dawson County Parks and Recreation Department to bring community members together.
Participants have two primary options for involvement:
- 5K running race
- Virtual 5K for those participating from different locations
The in-person course is located at 445 Martin Rd., and people may choose to run or walk the distance. For participants choosing the virtual option, the distance can be completed at a preferred location, and event materials are delivered by mail.
Awards are provided for the top three male and female finishers. Recognition is categorized by five-year age groups, beginning with the 10 & Under bracket.
