Event Overview
The Light the Way 5K is a community-focused event held at True Vine Brewing Company in Tyler, Texas. Organized by The Evie Effect, the event centers on mental wellness, suicide prevention, and fostering community support. The gathering includes multiple activities beyond the run, such as live music, speaker sessions, and nonprofit booth exhibitions.
Race Categories
Participants can choose from the following event options:
- 5K: A timed and scored running or walking race.
- Kids Dash: A 1 km non-timed race specifically for participants aged 12 and under.
- No Run Fun: A registration option for supporters to receive an event shirt without participating in a physical race.
Parents or guardians are permitted to run alongside participants in the Kids Dash at no extra cost. All participants on the course are required to wear a bib for safety.
Amenities and Recognition
Registered participants in the running events receive specific perks. The first 250 finishers of the 5K and all participants in the Kids Dash receive finisher medals. Registration also includes a drink coupon redeemable at True Vine Brewing Company for a beer or a non-alcoholic beverage.
Awards are presented on stage after the races for the top three male and female finishers in the 5K, as well as the top three boys and girls in the Kids Dash. Food options are available on-site through local food trucks and Sola Bread.
Event Schedule and Packet Pickup
Early packet pickup is held the day before the race at the brewery. On the day of the event, there is a check-in period followed by an opening ceremony.
