Light the Trail 5K and 1-Mile Family Fun Run
Light the Trail takes place in Clemson's Patrick Square community and benefits the Green Crescent Trail and its 15×30 campaign to create 15 connected miles of trail by 2030. The event day includes an evening community race atmosphere with a post-race gathering on the Village Green that features local food, drinks, music, family activities, and community partner booths.
The in-person program includes a scenic 5K course that loops through the streets of Patrick Square, beginning and ending by the Village Green, with elevation ranging from 721 to 825 feet. The 1-mile Family Fun Run follows a well-marked half-mile loop twice along sidewalks and streets of Patrick Square. A virtual 5K option is also offered with an open date range for remote participation.
Additional event elements include official timing by Upstate Race Series, age and group awards, a costume contest, raffle prizes, and information about trail connectivity and the Green Crescent Trail campaign. Packet pickup is scheduled on the days preceding the event at Sunnyside Cafe and Kite Hill Brewing and on race day at the Village Green.
