Liberty Freedom Run
The Liberty Freedom Run is held in Liberty, Indiana, with start and finish at the Union County Courthouse at the corner of Union and Market streets. The course is a 2-mile loop that participants complete twice for a total distance of 4 Miles conducted in honor of the Fourth of July.
There are running and walking divisions, including a Clydesdale division for participants 200 lb and over. Walkers start immediately after the runners. Entry requires a fee of $25; registrations made by the stated early deadline include a T-shirt while later registrations do not include a T-shirt.
Aid and support on the course include a water station that participants pass twice, water and Gatorade at the finish, and time splits recorded every mile. Portable restrooms are available as part of the Liberty Festival facilities.
Awards are given by age group for men and women in the following brackets: 12 and under; 13-15; 16-18; 19-24; 25-29; 30-34; 35-39; 40-47; 48-55; 56-63; 64-71; 72 and up. The top five female and male finishers receive trophies, and ribbons are awarded within each age group.
The run is organized in conjunction with the Liberty 4th of July Festival, which includes a flea market, food, a parade, and live music. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
