Lewis Park & Trails Full Moon Trail Run 2026
The Lewis Park & Trails Full Moon Trail Run 2026 is the 14th annual nighttime trail event presented by LRS, Inc at Lewis Park & Trails, 399 South Koke Mill Road, Springfield, Illinois, on September 26, 2026. Participation is free; donations are encouraged to support trail upkeep and park maintenance. The park is managed by a nonprofit board and the event helps fund ongoing care of the 40 acre prairie and woods.
Distances:
- 3.0 miles off-road run through prairie and wooded trails.
- 1.0 mile family-friendly loop; starts about five minutes after runners.
Trails are marked and described as lightly technical. Participants should expect roots, ruts, and some logs. A good flashlight or headlamp is required. Reflective clothing, neon garments, and glow sticks are suggested for visibility. There are no water stations on the route; bottled water is available at check-in. One port-a-potty is on site. Parking is limited; available spaces include the LPT lot and the Koke Mill Christian Church parking lot. Do not park on the grass.
Event limits and amenities: the field is limited to the first 200 participants. On-site registration is permitted only if the limit is not reached. The first 150 pre-registered participants to check in receive a commemorative item while supplies last. The event runs rain or shine and will be canceled only for unsafe conditions.
