Letchworth 5K, Letchworth Garden City
The Letchworth 5K is a town centre running event in Leys Square, Letchworth Garden City. It is presented by Love Letchworth and North Herts Road Runners and takes place on a single day in September. The event includes multiple short-distance races and a fun run, all starting and finishing in Leys Square. Roads are closed for the event and marshals and first aid trained staff are present.

Race numbers are reused and participants are asked to write allergies or medical conditions on the back of their number in waterproof ink. All finishers receive a commemorative medal. Prizes are awarded for overall male and female places and for selected veteran age categories; prizes are based on gun time rather than chip time.
Facilities in the town centre include public toilets and local coffee shops that will be open. There is a baggage handling facility at the start and finish; items left are at the owner’s risk. Organisers aim to reduce environmental impact by using compostable or reusable cups, recycling paper and cardboard, and sourcing sustainable medals. The course is on tarmac or solid blocks and is suitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs.
