About the race
Legends Trail is a non-stop winter ultratrail of 350 km through the Ardennes with headquarters at Collège St. Roch in Bernardfagne, Ferrières, Belgium. The race uses hard, off-road terrain and may include cold, rain, wind, snow, steep climbs and muddy sections over several days.
Registration is limited to 120 places and the fee is €420 (handling fees excluded). Registration opens on March 20 and closes on February 1. Cancellations are accepted until January 15 with a 50% refund. Transfers to another runner are permitted until the close of registration. On-site registration during the race weekend is not available. Registration at race headquarters is mandatory for all participants. Parking is available at the headquarters.
The course is unmarked; participants must navigate using the GPX file that will be provided before the event. The route includes road crossings that can be busy, so extra caution is advised. There are five checkpoints offering water, drinks, snacks and a fresh warm meal at each checkpoint; vegan and gluten-free options are available. A post-race meal and shower facilities at the finish are provided.
Each participant receives a race number, a GPS tracker (to be attached to the pack) and a finisher’s medal. The tracker includes an SOS function that signals Race Control and may trigger extraction; assisted participants cannot rejoin the race. Drop bag service is provided (one bag up to 20 kg), and unclaimed bags will be disposed of after two hours. A medical and safety team are available throughout the event.
Mandatory and recommended kit requirements are checked: examples include a waterproof jacket and trousers with taped seams, survival bag covering the whole body, headlamp with spare batteries, minimum 1.5 L carrying capacity for liquids, mobile phone, first aid supplies, sleeping system for outdoor use, red rear light, safety goggles, cup, and appropriate footwear and traction aids.
