About the race
The Leersumse Veld Trail takes place at Molecaten Park Landgoed Ginkelduin in Leersum on the Utrechtse Heuvelrug. The event offers trail routes over varied natural terrain with two main distance options:
- 11 km
- 21 km
The courses run over singletracks, sandpaden and forest tracks, with sections across heath and past small ponds and the Leersumsche Plassen. The 11 km option is organised as two separate loops. Loop 1 follows scenic singletracks around the Leersumse Veld, shows views over the Leersumsche Plassen and includes about 20 metres of ascent. Loop 2 runs through forest toward the Hoge Ginkel and contains roughly 200 metres of ascent spread over short climbs and technical descents. Runners on the 11 km can choose which loop to run on the day.
Both loops are fully waymarked with arrows and tape. There is feed at the finish of each loop and participants should bring a reusable racecup because no disposable cups are provided. A commemorative event medal is available as an extra option and is inspired by the Leersumsche Plassen. Merrell will offer a shoe test on site. The Petzl Night Trail is scheduled from the same location on the evening before and can be combined with this trail. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
