Event overview
The Leaky Hourglass Ultra is a Last Man Standing running event held near Half Way, Missouri, about 20 miles north of Springfield. Runners complete repeated laps on a set out-and-back course. Each lap reduces the allowed cutoff by one minute, starting with 60 minutes for the first lap. Laps continue until only one runner can complete a lap.
Course and logistics
Each lap is an out-and-back of 4.167 miles on chip-and-seal rural highway with rolling hills and about 250 feet of elevation gain per lap. The course is not closed to traffic; runners are asked to run facing traffic and must carry a headlamp and flasher after sunset. Primitive camping is permitted on site for Friday and Saturday nights. Packet pickup is available on the day before the event and on race day.
Aid stations, rules and services
There is one manned aid station at the start/finish and one unmanned aid station at the turnaround. The start/finish aid offers Tailwind Endurance Fuel, water and a variety of snacks; the turnaround has Tailwind, water and prepackaged snacks. No refunds will be issued; bib transfers are allowed until August 3, 2024. Friendly, leashed dogs are allowed on site but are not permitted on the course. Professional race photos will be provided free of charge by Mile 90 Photography. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
