Leaky Hourglass Ultra
Leaky Hourglass Ultra is a Last Man Standing running event with a twist: each lap reduces the allowed cutoff by one minute. The first lap gives 60 minutes to complete a 4.167 mile out and back. Subsequent laps each subtract one minute from the cutoff until only one runner completes a lap.
The course runs on a chip and sealed rural highway with rolling hills and roughly 250 feet of elevation gain per lap. The route is not closed to traffic so runners are required to run facing traffic and must carry a headlamp and a flasher after sunset. There is one manned aid station at the start and finish offering Tailwind Endurance Fuel, water and a variety of snacks, and one unmanned aid station at the turnaround with fuel, water and prepackaged snacks.
The event location is listed as 2055 Hwy Z in Half Way, Missouri, about 20 miles north of Springfield. Primitive camping is allowed on site for Friday and Saturday night. On site packet pickup is scheduled for Friday, August 28 and Saturday, August 29. Registration closes on August 22 at 11:59 PM CT.
