Leaky Hourglass Ultra
The Leaky Hourglass Ultra is scheduled for August 29, 2026 in Half Way, MO at 2055 Hwy Z. It uses a Last Man Standing format with a twist: each lap reduces the cutoff by one minute. The first lap allows 60 minutes to complete a 4.167 mile out-and-back; the next lap allows 59 minutes, and so on until only one person completes a lap.
The course runs on chip and sealed rural highway and has rolling hills. Each lap has roughly 250 feet of elevation gain. This is not a closed course and there may be traffic. Runners are expected to run facing traffic and must have a headlamp and flasher after sunset.
There is one manned aid station at the start/finish offering Tailwind Endurance Fuel, water, chips, pickles, candy bars, Scooby snacks, and other hot and cold options. The turnaround has an unmanned aid location with Tailwind Endurance Fuel, water, and prepackaged snacks in a tote.
The event site is about 20 miles north of Springfield, MO. Primitive camping is allowed on site for Friday and Saturday night. On-site packet pickup is offered on the day before and the day of the event. No refunds will be issued; bib transfers were allowed until August 3, 2024.
