Leaky Hourglass Ultra
Leaky Hourglass Ultra is a Last Man Standing running event on August 28, 2027 in Half Way, MO (2055 Hwy Z). The format uses repeated out-and-back laps of 4.167 miles; the first lap has a 60 minute cutoff and each subsequent lap reduces the cutoff by one minute until only one runner completes a lap.
The course is a chip and sealed rural highway with rolling hills and about 250 feet of elevation gain per lap. The route is not closed to traffic; runners are instructed to run facing traffic and must carry a headlamp and flasher after sunset.
Aid is provided at two points. The manned start/finish station offers Tailwind Endurance Fuel, water, chips, pickles, candy bars, Scooby snacks, and a variety of hot and cold options through the day. The unmanned turnaround station supplies Tailwind Endurance Fuel, water, and prepackaged snacks available to grab and go.
Primitive camping is allowed on site for Friday and Saturday nights. The event location is about 20 miles north of Springfield, MO, where additional lodging options are available. Entry is listed at 116.49 USD and registration closes on August 21. No refunds are issued. Professional race photos will be provided free of charge by Mile 90 Photography.
