Event overview
Leaky Hourglass Ultra is a Last Man Standing running event held in Half Way, Missouri. The race format reduces the allowed lap time by one minute after each lap: the first lap allows 60 minutes to complete the 4.167 mile out and back, the next lap allows 59 minutes, and so on until only one person completes a lap.
Course
The course runs on a chip and sealed rural highway with rolling hills. Each lap has roughly 250 feet of elevation gain. The route is not closed to traffic; runners should run facing traffic. After sunset a headlamp and a flasher are required.
Aid is provided at two locations. The start and finish area is a manned aid station offering Tailwind Endurance Fuel, water, chips, pickles, candy bars, Scooby snacks, and other hot and cold options during the day. The turnaround is an unmanned aid station with Tailwind Endurance Fuel, water, and prepackaged snacks available to grab and go.
Logistics
The event location is listed as 2055 Hwy Z, about 20 miles north of Springfield, Missouri. Primitive camping on site is allowed for Friday and Saturday nights. On site packet pickup is scheduled Friday, August 28 and Saturday, August 29. Registration closes Saturday, August 22 at 11:59 PM CT. No refunds shall be issued, and bib transfers are allowed until Saturday, August 3, 2024 at 2359. Friendly, leashed dogs are permitted but must not go onto the course.
