Event Overview
The Leaky Hourglass Ultra is a variation of the Last Man Standing format located in Half Way, Missouri. The competition features a specific time-reduction rule: participants begin with a 60-minute cutoff to complete a 4.167-mile out and back loop. For each subsequent lap, the time limit decreases by one minute. The event continues until only one runner is able to complete a lap within the required timeframe.
Course Details
The course follows a chip and sealed rural highway characterized by rolling hills. Each lap includes approximately 250 feet of elevation gain. Because the route is not a closed course, participants must share the road with vehicle traffic and are required to run facing traffic. After sunset, runners must use a headlamp and a flasher for safety.
Aid Stations and Logistics
Participants have access to two aid stations. The main station at the start and finish provides water, endurance fuel, and various food items including chips, pickles, and hot and cold options. A second unmanned station is located at the turnaround point, offering water and prepackaged snacks.
Accommodations include on-site primitive camping for Friday and Saturday nights. For those seeking other options, the location is 20 miles north of Springfield, which offers various hotels.
