About the race

The LDWA Autumn Forest Marathon is a fall road and forest event organised by the Heart of England LDWA group on Saturday 26 September 2026. Routes start and finish at the Memorial Hall, Station Road, Henley-in-Arden, Warwickshire. The event returns to the Heart of England Forest with a mix of newly planted, growing, established and mature woodland and has a new headquarters, new routes and new checkpoints.

Distances on offer:

  • 27 miles marathon route, three checkpoints
  • 20 miles short route, two checkpoints

The event uses rolling starts, with walkers set off earlier than runners. Checkpoints on the routes provide snacks and hot and cold drinks. A hot meal is served at the finish. There is no specific event parking; several public car parks are within a 10 minute walk of the headquarters and public transport options exist. Entries opened on 4 April 2026 and close on 21 September 2026. Entry fees are quoted as £20 for LDWA members and £25 for non-members; 142 participants were listed at the time of publication. Under 18s must be accompanied at all times by a guardian over 18 and must have written parental approval. Dogs are not permitted on the route. Any surplus funds after expenses will be donated to the Heart of England Forest. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
