18 Mile Run & 12K Run/Walk Long Beach Island
The event is an annual road running weekend organized by St. Francis Community Center on Long Beach Island, New Jersey. It offers two marked courses that both begin on Roosevelt and Pershing Avenue in Holgate and finish at different island locations. Proceeds from the event benefit St. Francis Community Center and its programs serving Long Beach Island and Southern Ocean County.
Packet pick-up and runner check-in take place at St. Francis Community Center, 4700 Long Beach Blvd., with collection available on the Saturday and Sunday before race day. Race packets include an official bib with timing chip, four safety pins, a runner bag, a clothing drop tag, and a designated race shirt. Runners are asked to record any important medical information on the back of their bibs.
Logistics include shuttle buses from the Community Center to the start area and return shuttles from the finish to the Community Center. Bag drop procedures differ by distance: 12K bags are dropped at the Community Center before the race; 18 mile bags can be checked at the start and will be transported to the finish. Post-race shower facilities are available; participants should bring their own towel.
Course support includes water and sports drinks approximately every two miles, restrooms at major stations, and medical personnel along the route and at the finish. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
