The Law Breaker 2026
The Law Breaker is a short hill race that forms one of two short races in the SHR Championship and also serves as the East District Championship. The course is 5.4 km with about 630 m of ascent concentrated over roughly half the distance. The route follows a well used walkers' path to the summit of The Law, is waymarked clearly until the Gannel Burn bridge, and then continues along a single line to the top. Runners return along the same line. Marshalls will be present on the route.
The start and finish are on Upper Mill Street in Tillicoultry. Separate women's and men's starts will be used to reduce congestion on the initial steps to the Gannel Burn; V60 men may elect to start with the women. Chip timing is used so separate starts do not affect final placings. Recorded course best times are 0:32:51 for men and 0:40:13 for women, both from 2008.
Entries are limited to 250 participants and the entry fee is £14 plus booking fee. No refunds are issued once an entry is confirmed and a waiting list operates when the field is full. Mandatory kit checks may be carried out at the start; competitors must carry a full body waterproof cover and wear hill or trail running shoes with an aggressive grip, as road shoes are not permitted. There are no water stations on course. Parking is available in surrounding streets; parking on the private area next to the nearby golf course clubhouse is not permitted. Toilet facilities are available in the Masonic Hall where numbers are collected and at a shopping outlet about 0.8 miles away. A professional first aid team will be at the finish and mountain rescue will be notified in advance. Prize giving will take place in the Masonic Hall after the final runner.
