Laurel Highlands 5K
Laurel Highlands Gymnastics presents the third annual Laurel Highlands 5K run and walk at 120 Bunyan Drive, Somerset, PA 15501. The event includes a 3.1 mile out and back course that begins at the facility, turns left onto PA 31, then right onto Coxes Creek Road / SR 4005, continues toward the pumping station, and returns along the same route. A Kids One Mile Fun Run is new this year.
Awards and prizes are given to top runners and walkers in age groups and overall categories. Tentative age categories include ages 3 to 6, 7 to 10, 11 to 14, followed by five year increments such as 15 to 19, 20 to 24, 25 to 29, and so on.
Facilities on site include bathroom services and plenty of parking. There will be post-event activities and distribution of goodies. Early bird registration ends May 8 with a guaranteed event t shirt for those registrations. General entry fee information lists $25 for the main 5K run and walk, and $15 for gymnast and ages 12 and under entries. Some registration windows open April 1 while gymnast and ages 12 and under registration opens April 20; some registrations close in early June.
