Last Stand 1776 Backyard Ultra
The Last Stand 1776 Backyard Ultra takes place June 13 and 14, 2026, in Midlothian, Virginia, at 13501 Midlothian Tpke. The event marks the 250th birthday of the United States and directs race proceeds to the Semper Fi Fund to support wounded, ill, and injured service members, veterans, and their families.
The event uses the Backyard Ultra format. Every hour runners start a 4.167 mile loop and must finish that loop within the hour to continue. The same loop repeats until runners choose to stop or fail to complete a loop in time. The loop course runs on trails, over wooden bridges, and around a lake.
The format allows participants to set their own distance goals, from a single loop to many loops. Support crews, spectators, and fellow runners provide encouragement at each loop completion. Entry is open to ages 18 to 99.
All entrants receive a custom-designed race shirt and additional race items. A cash prize is awarded to the Last Runner Standing, who also claims the Sword of Honor as the event winner.
