About the race
The Last Friday of the Month 5k is a monthly, open-entry race organised by volunteers from Serpentine Running and Triathlon Club. The course is two laps around Hyde Park with the start and finish at the Boat House on the northern side of the Serpentine lake. The event is held under UK Athletics rules and carries an England Athletics licence number 29177 and Certificate of Course Accuracy number 16/201. Entry is online only because of Royal Parks rules; entries are not accepted on the day.
Places usually sell out about one week before race day. The published entry fee is £7.00 for runners registered with England Athletics via any club and £9.00 for unaffiliated runners. Refunds are not given except in exceptional circumstances at the discretion of the Club Committee. Runners must be at least 11 years old.
There is a cut-off time of 35 minutes after which the course will not be marshalled and results will not be recorded. For safety, competitors should not run while wearing headphones or other impediments to hearing. There are no changing or shower facilities. Public toilets, payable only by card at 20p, are about 500 m from the start; there are no toilets at the Boat House.
Personal belongings may be left close to the start at the owner’s risk; participants should provide their own waterproof bag and label. No water is provided at the race. Results are published on the Serpentine website, and there is an annual league championship based on age graded results with the best six performances counting.
